Mainstream Development Educational Group (Mainstream) develops and delivers three highly effective college readiness services for students in grades 3-12:
- I Can focuses on non-cognitive elements that impact success, such as goal-setting, persistence, and time management. Learn more about I Can.
- Test Ready uses a model of exposure, skill building, and content expansion to empower students to score on tests at their own highest levels. Learn more about Test Ready.
- Future Me helps students to establish the habit of identifying goals based on their own interests and dreams and to define the steps necessary to get from where they are to where they want to be. Learn more about Future Me.
Regular Student Assessments
Students in all of Mainstream’s college readiness programs are assessed throughout their participation, with key assessments occurring at the beginning of the program (baseline), at midterm, and at program end. Facilitators review the results of the midterm assessment to determine areas that require additional focus and adjust the students’ Individualized Learning Plans to incorporate those learning needs.
These formative assessments – as well as less formal assessments of classroom and group work – are incorporated into the Student Workbooks. Throughout the sessions, facilitators adjust and adapt to each student’s learning needs.
Drop-Out Prevention
Students identified as being at risk of dropping out of school receive additional monitoring and assistance. Coaches coordinate closely with day school teachers, administrators, parents, and the students to identify and address issues as they arise, and additional supports are added to Development Plan in response to these challenges. This builds a structure of support to develop protective factors in the students’ lives and to ward off school failure.
Professional Development
Mainstream provides professional development, coaching, and support to teachers and engages school communities in the effective implementation of change strategies. Services are designed in cooperation with schools and districts and are tailored to meet the unique needs of each participating school.
